Continuing Education

  • Two years as a journeyman (4,000 hours) working under an electrical contractor; a minimum of 2,000 hours must be in commercial work
  • Complete four years (for a total of 8,000 hours) as an apprentice working under an electrical contractor

South Dakota electrical licenses renew every even year.

South Dakota Electrical Licensees must complete 16 hours of continuing education to renew a license. Eight of the 16 hours must be code-related. The remaining eight hours may be non-code.
